Fine Art Design inspirations

Charlie’s designs are inspired from many sources, some based in designs and stories from historical events or time periods. Covering a wide gamut, his jewelry uses images from old Masters as well as recycled materials of broken pottery shards and recycled glass that has been repurposed.

His style has been called boho-industrial mixed with hints of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. He also draws inspiration from the Art Deco period of Tiffany, as well as the Art Nouveau and Craftsman/Mission art periods.

“I think art should inspire, but I also think that making people laugh is important. Some of my more commercial work features humor and witty puns and often incorporates text into vintage and retro inspired charms, pendants, and decor pieces. Some kitsch and pop culture that I can never get enough of include Grey Gardens and 1950’s retro imagery.”

Professional Experience

Charlie most recently spent close to twenty years as a professional graphic designer, working in various industries including computer security, commercial printing, nonprofit and healthcare organizations, and educational institutions. His design work in corporate branding and nonprofit fundraising development has garnered multiple gold and silver awards from National and International communications and public relations associations. He received a Bachelors of Science in Art Education from Kutztown University and has taught art and design to every age, from kindergarten to college.
